Convergence
2024
This series investigates the meeting of land and sky—the threshold where trees, hills, and mountains converge. I work with broad, gestural brushwork, building and removing layers to reveal texture and light. By limiting my palette, I resist literal depiction, allowing color and tone to suggest rather than describe.
In these paintings, the process is as essential as the image. Scratched surfaces, exposed underlayers, and soft transitions capture the energy of nature without resorting to realism. I’m interested in how the landscape can be reduced to rhythm and form—how painting itself becomes a convergence of memory, motion, and atmosphere.
