Painted in fluid layers of gray-green tones on Belgian linen, this work captures four birds in quiet motion. The composition is less about depicting species or setting and more about evoking the spirit of movement—the delicate rhythm and fleeting grace of living forms in air and light.

Rather than pursuing literal detail, I simplify the birds’ shapes into elemental silhouettes, allowing gesture and balance to carry their energy. Wet paint flows and blends across the surface, guided by instinct and chance, giving rise to soft transitions and spontaneous edges. This approach lends the painting a sense of immediacy, as though the image emerged naturally, without hesitation.

The linen’s fine texture remains visible beneath the translucent layers of oil, grounding the ethereal movement in material presence. A minimalist floating frame in silver metal by Nielsen complements the restrained palette, enhancing the painting’s luminous calm and quiet vitality.
