Design Office
My design office extends the same principles that guide my painting: clarity, proportion, and respect for materials. Working from my studio in Vermont, I design books and printed works that give sustained attention to image, text, and physical form.
Design
I operate an independent design studio in Woodstock, Vermont, focused on books and publications shaped by art, architecture, private collections, and place. Projects range from limited editions to large-scale museum publications, each developed through close collaboration and careful production.
Clients
Since 1991, I have designed and produced more than two hundred art books and exhibition catalogues for publishers and institutions including Hatje Cantz, Rizzoli International Publications, the Barnes Foundation, Harvard Art Museums, the List Visual Arts Center at MIT, the Hood Museum of Art at Dartmouth, and the Detroit Institute of Arts.
I have also designed more than forty catalogues for Dartmouth College’s Studio Art Exhibition Program and produced eight multilingual catalogue raisonnés for the Li Ching Foundation in Taipei.
Creative Services
My work integrates design, writing, and photography in the development of books and printed projects. Each collaboration begins with listening—shaping structure, pacing, and material choices to support the ideas at the center of the work.
