The Ledges documents a twenty-five-year project: the making of a private home and landscape on a forested mountainside in Vermont. When Jonathan Deitcher purchased the land in 1999, he began a gradual transformation that would evolve into a deeply considered expression of place.
Without formal training in architecture or landscape design, Deitcher relied on observation, persistence, and respect for the land. Buildings, gardens, and paths emerged in dialogue with the terrain, allowing ledges once seen as obstacles to become integral to the design.
Photographed over the course of a year, the book traces the quiet relationship between land, intention, and time. Printed as a private edition of 100 copies.
