This second painting in the series continues my exploration of cows as symbolic and expressive figures. Across these four works, I pursue a more direct and intuitive approach to image-making—embracing simplicity, spontaneity, and the elemental nature of form.

The compositions are deliberately primitive, almost childlike in their rendering, evoking both innocence and quiet authority. I combine multiple techniques—drawing with oil stick, monotype printing from cutout shapes, and traditional brushwork—to build layered surfaces that feel immediate yet deeply worked. These overlapping processes encourage chance, allowing forms and textures to emerge through a balance of control and improvisation.

In this composition, two dark brown cows stand within an abstracted pasture, their outlines glowing with bright blue as if illuminated from within. One cow gazes outward while the other lowers its head to graze, and above them, a cloud form mirrors their grounded stillness—becoming a third silent presence within the scene.

This series serves as a bridge between my recent bird paintings and the Nordic-inspired animal imagery that continues to inform my practice—works rooted in memory, instinct, and the search for essential form.
