I’m often asked, “What are you working on now in your studio?”
Usually, several painting projects are underway at once—each in a stage of exploration, refinement, or completion. I created Preview as an opportunity to share glimpses of work in progress, offering a window into my studio process.
Angus
Currently, I’m developing a new series that evolved from my earlier symbolic animal and bird paintings. This project focuses on a single subject: the black Angus cow. Inspired by artists who have explored one form in depth—such as Picasso, who drew the bull repeatedly in countless variations—I approach the cow as a study in form, mood, and transformation.
In some pieces, I combine oil pastel or graphite drawing with expressive layers of paint; in others, I rely on paint alone. The results are hybrid works—part drawing, part painting. Each 8 × 10 inch composition centers the subject in profile, sometimes facing left, sometimes right, always within a consistent scale. Created on Arches cotton paper, these works reflect my ongoing interest in how repetition deepens perception: how a single subject, revisited again and again, can yield infinite possibilities through experimentation and quiet discovery.
Check back again; I will be adding new work to this page as the projects progress.
I created Preview as a place to share paintings and projects still unfolding in the studio—experiments that explore process, form, and discovery. Each work reflects my fascination with simplicity, repetition, and the quiet transformation that occurs through painting.
