An advance look at a new project. The paintings will be on view at our gallery in late October.
Drawing upon Glenn Suokko’s Scandinavian heritage, his new project delves into animals as symbolic figures, forging a subconscious connection that evokes Nordic themes through both formal and stylistic exploration. His paintings feature subtle color palettes contrasted with bold, often flat brushwork and striking geometric shapes. These elements are combined with textures crafted through a variety of innovative tools and painting techniques, inviting viewers to discover primal meaning within quiet, minimalist compositions. Through the dynamic interplay of geometry, line, and gesture, Suokko crafts a visual language imbued with silent intensity and profound contemplation.
Each 6 x 8 and 8 x 10 painting in this series is created on 100% cotton oil paper from Arches, a prestigious paper mill in Northeastern France, established in 1492. Selected paintings will be framed by Guido Frames in Dedham, Massachusetts, ensuring a presentation that enhances the subtle strength of the works.
