This painting continues my exploration of songbirds and their instinctive rhythms—their moments of stillness, their grace in motion, and the understated beauty of their interactions. I am drawn to these quiet gestures and to the way their movements reflect harmony and balance within the natural world.

Here, three faint bird forms move lightly across a field of warm, earthen color. The background, applied in fluid washes, dissolves and drips to the edge of abstraction, blurring the boundary between depiction and suggestion. Outlined in soft blue and rendered in muted gray and brown tones, the birds seem to emerge from and return to the surface itself. The weathered texture and subdued palette evoke the timeworn qualities of ancient wall paintings—artifacts that have long inspired my own sense of simplicity and permanence.

Through a process of layering, scraping, and abrasion, I work toward surfaces that feel both aged and alive. What remains is less a record of observation than an atmosphere of memory and presence. The painting is framed in walnut with a gold leaf face by Guido Frames, whose craftsmanship and warmth complement the work’s quiet luminosity.
