This painting continues my exploration of the quiet nature of songbirds—their stillness, their movement, and the delicate choreography of their interactions. I am drawn to the subtle gestures and poetic simplicity of their behavior, which reflect a sense of balance and harmony found in the natural world.

In this composition, two dark birds outlined in red are set against a field of warm ochre and soft pink tones. The color dissolves and blends in an abstract expression of earth and air, suggesting the rustic textures of trees, soil, and light. The birds’ proximity and mirrored rhythm evoke a quiet intimacy, as if engaged in gentle conversation or courtship.

My process involves successive layers of painting, scraping, dissolving, and sanding to build softly worn surfaces where image and texture merge. What remains is not description but essence—an image suspended between clarity and suggestion. The painting is presented in a handcrafted walnut frame with a gold leaf face by Guido Frames, which adds warmth and refinement to the work’s tactile presence.
