Threshold

Threshold surveys Glenn Suokko’s studio practice, from richly observed still lifes of pitchers, bowls, and jugs, painted in a classical, observational tradition, to the pared-down, gestural abstractions of his recent work. Painted in oil, the works trace a single, patient inquiry: what happens when a familiar object is reduced to shape, edge, and field. Scraped, redrawn, and reworked, the later paintings hold the visible history of their own making. This catalogue follows that arc in full—realism giving way, painting by painting, to something sparser and more open.
