The Ledges tells the story of a twenty-five-year project—the making of a private home in Vermont. When Jonathan Deitcher purchased a densely forested mountainside in 1999, he began transforming the land into an alpine estate that would evolve into a remarkable expression of place.

With no formal training in architecture or landscape design, Deitcher relied on vision, curiosity, and perseverance to realize his dream: a lodge, guest house, swimming pool, tennis court, sauna, and pond—all shaped by a deep respect for nature. His landscape design—woodland trails, meadows, and wildflower gardens—demonstrates how beauty emerges when natural forms are enhanced through thoughtful intention.

The ledges that define the property, once seen as obstacles, became integral to his vision. This book documents the property over twelve months, revealing the quiet interplay between land and design. Printed as a private edition of 100 copies.
