| PAST AND PRESENT |
| THIS WEBSITE PRESENTS SELECTIONS OF MY RECENT WORK IN DESIGN, PHOTOGRAPHY, AND WRITING (AS WELL AS A FEW EXAMPLES OF DESIGN PROJECTS FROM THE PAST TWENTY YEARS) AND CURRENT AND PAST SHOWS AT THE GALLERY AT SIMON PEARCE. I am a designer, photographer, and writer and develop projects that require images, text, and design to tell unique stories in simple, meaningful ways. I am also a painter. To me, one expression inspires another and I build on the connections among them. I studied art and design at the Massachusetts College of Art, Boston (BFA), and Cranbrook Academy of Art, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (MFA). After serving as senior designer for Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, I moved to Woodstock, Vermont where I have worked independently as a graphic designer designing and producing art books, publications, and marketing materials for art museums, galleries, nonprofit institutions, and businesses. My work as a photographer, writer, and designer coalesced six years ago with the creation of Pastoral, a publication in which we feature the stories and work of individuals, organizations, processes, and products motivated by the creative and natural environments of Vermont. This work inspired other projects, such as A Way of Living, the book I created in collaboration with and for Pia and Simon Pearce. I am now art and creative director for Simon Pearce. To me, painting is an ongoing exploration, one that is rich in investigation and realization. My paintings can be seen at the Gallery at Simon Pearce, the gallery of art and design I oversee in Quechee, Vermont, where we also show the work of artists, craftsmen, and designers in solo and group shows throughout the year.
